Hello, I’m selling my pair of Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a V2 cherry finish. Built under license from the BBC, the LS3/5a V2 were designed in collaboration with Derek Hughes. I’m the second owner. The pair is in great condition. Please take a look to the photo as I tried to take them in details to show as much as possible the shape of the speakers. If you have any question please just ask. They sounds just fantastic. Original packaging is included as pictured. I pair them with a Scott EL84 tube amp with 20w/channel and they really don’t need more power in my opinion. I’m also selling on a separate add my pair of Stirling AB2 bass extender which I use with them.pair I can make a package deal for both speakers and bass extender if interested. Please note that the cover protection of the tweeter is missing on one speaker. The previous owner removed it on one speaker to test if it would make a difference. It didn’t and he didn’t care to put it back. You can easily source it from Stirling for a few dollars if you feel that’s important to you. It wasn’t for me. Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a V2 Monitor Loudspeakers in Walnut finish. Excellent condition – like new. Genuine reason for sell. The speakers spent most of its time unconnected and stored away, so technically speaking theyre like new. However, as per a photo, one speaker wood veneer has small cosmetic imperfection in bottom corner, hence lower price. The speakers will be supplied in the original packaging with the grilles, bi-wire links and owners certificate. Im also including three ECM CD records as a bonus. Derek drew on his extensive experience of the LS3/5a which reaches back to his work for the BBC in the 1970s. He has achieved something very special by retaining the legendary sonic character of the original, capturing the much loved vocal abilities of the classic 15 ohm version, whilst combining this with the faster more modern sound of the newer 11 ohm. As a result our LS3/5a V2 has improved and extended bass response with greater handling of dynamics. The Stirling LS3/5a cabinet is modelled on the famous 001/002 pair featured in Hi Fi News which were built in-house by the BBC and used as their references. Our LS3/5a V2 combines the very best of the traditional BBC LS3/5a with a modern design by using custom high quality drive units in thin wall (9mm) birch plywood cabinets, damped using double layers of bituminous pads. The high-quality crossover followed extensive development with both computer aided design and traditional A-B listening used to voice the Stirling LS3/5a V2 against BBC 001/002.
