The headshell is an Ortofon SPU type (has a few soldering iron marks on the underside) onw of the wires has coen adrift on the output, near the RCA plugs and the headshell collar has seized on the wand, ad will need freeing. It will also need a further detailed clean.sold for light restoration. a few light marks on the wand. Offered is a very nicely kept SME 3012 Series II transcription arm. This has seen very little use over the years and as such is in superb shape with all original cables, headshell, counterweight, and extra bias weight. I’m including a low use Ortofon SL15 moving coil cartridge that sounds fantastic with arm. I will pack this super well for a safe transit. I have years of packing fragile high end audio components.

Late 60s perforated SME headshell in near mint condition, in the original box with the packaging, fingerlift and a pair of genuine aluminium bolts. Nice early example of the classic SME 3012 series II tonearm. This example is original boxed has the split counterweight. It comes with the correct extra rider weight, early headshell and fingerlift and original tonearm cable. Its in full working order having just been serviced by Audio Origami of Glasgow. They checked the bearings, refilled the dashpot, cleaned everything up and changed the coupling rubbers on the counterweight stub. The arm is now ready to find a new owner. In terms of hi-fi design classics the early SME series II is right up there with the all time classics. The 3009 is attractive but the extra length of the 3012 gives it a willowy grace virtually unseen in 1962 - most transcription arms in those days were ugly clumpy things. This one is in lovely condition, there are some light marks on the armtube but they do not detract from the beauty of it. It’s recently been to my engineer Jon for a spot of work, after replacing the rear stub rubbers he pronounced it fit. The lever works smoothly to lower the arm.
