A super bargain when you find them, since they are musical and smooth to listen to, and actually sound better than many standard 12AT7 tubes. These tubes are all the same and came out of the same scientific instrument. The silkscreen is not in the best shape but you can still see the GE markings and they test NOS, very strong. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in them. I have 5 sets and these are hard to find. I dont know when I will get more of these so get them while you can. The 12a-7 series was very diverse. There are many variation of this popular dual triode package. The 5965 is the ruggedized MIL spec or Industrial heavy duty version of the 12AV7 tube. This tube when installed has a gain factor of 47 on each triode. This is about half of a 12AX7 which is 100. There are other characteristics  regarding this tube that are pertinent but I dont have time to discuss here, but this tube when plugged into most circuits of guitar amps will give about half the gain of a 12ax7. So if you are looking for less drive, a cleaner sound with more headroom this tube may be helpful. I like to play around with my amps by substituting different 12a-7 series tubes to see what kind of sound I can get out of my amp. It is a lot of fun. In addition the 5965 makes a great low cost alternative to the very expensive 12AY7. It is a bout the same gain, is great in tone, low microphonic because of the stable side getters, and is about 1/3 the cost. One caveat is that it does draw about 50% more heater current than the 12AY7, but this is not generally a problem becasue the designers built in  a large current safety margin on most designs. With the other tubes in most guitar amps this comes out to be less than a 10% increase which is well within the limits which should be over 50%. Engineering practice is find the normal current and add 50% and then go up one size. One evaluation is a screen shot of the tube with a high voltage applied to the plate. The silkscreen is not in the best shape but you can still see the GE markings and they test NOS, very strong. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in them. I have 7 sets and these are hard to find. I dont know when I will get more of these so get them while you can. The 12a-7 series was very diverse. There are many variation of this popular dual triode package. The 5965 is the ruggedized MIL spec or Industrial heavy duty version of the 12AV7 tube. This tube when installed has a gain factor of 47 on each triode. This is about half of a 12AX7 which is 100. There are other characteristics  regarding this tube that are pertinent but I dont have time to discuss here, but this tube when plugged into most circuits of guitar amps will give about half the gain of a 12ax7. So if you are looking for less drive, a cleaner sound with more headroom this tube may be helpful. I like to play around with my amps by substituting different 12a-7 series tubes to see what kind of sound I can get out of my amp. It is a lot of fun. In addition the 5965 makes a great low cost alternative to the very expensive 12AY7. It is a bout the same gain, is great in tone, low microphonic because of the stable side getters, and is about 1/3 the cost. One caveat is that it does draw about 50% more heater current than the 12AY7, but this is not generally a problem becasue the designers built in  a large current safety margin on most designs. With the other tubes in most guitar amps this comes out to be less than a 10% increase which is well within the limits which should be over 50%. Engineering practice is find the normal current and add 50% and then go up one size.
