The silkscreen is not in the best shape but you can still see the GE markings and they test NOS, very strong. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in them. I have 7 sets and these are hard to find. I dont know when I will get more of these so get them while you can. The 12a-7 series was very diverse. There are many variation of this popular dual triode package. The 5965 is the ruggedized MIL spec or Industrial heavy duty version of the 12AV7 tube. This tube when installed has a gain factor of 47 on each triode. This is about half of a 12AX7 which is 100. There are other characteristics  regarding this tube that are pertinent but I dont have time to discuss here, but this tube when plugged into most circuits of guitar amps will give about half the gain of a 12ax7. So if you are looking for less drive, a cleaner sound with more headroom this tube may be helpful. I like to play around with my amps by substituting different 12a-7 series tubes to see what kind of sound I can get out of my amp. It is a lot of fun. In addition the 5965 makes a great low cost alternative to the very expensive 12AY7. It is a bout the same gain, is great in tone, low microphonic because of the stable side getters, and is about 1/3 the cost. One caveat is that it does draw about 50% more heater current than the 12AY7, but this is not generally a problem becasue the designers built in  a large current safety margin on most designs. With the other tubes in most guitar amps this comes out to be less than a 10% increase which is well within the limits which should be over 50%. Engineering practice is find the normal current and add 50% and then go up one size. One evaluation is a screen shot of the tube with a high voltage applied to the plate. This helps the buyer see the linearity of the tube in question at the highest voltage the tube will see in a real circuit. The Curve tracer steps the triode through 10 gate/grid voltages starting with -10 volts and going to 0 volts. The lines show how the tube conducts throughout that range. At 0 volt the tube is at max conduction and is the top line on the display. It is easy at that point to take where that top line intersects the plate voltage, find the milliamp level and compare it to the datasheet. I give those numbers for you in the Item condition box. To further help the buyer I also include the Design values, for gm and ma readings in the table. Item is one unmatched lot of GE GL-5965 vacuum tubes. These tubes are used and have dust, shadowing or label discoloration that appear with extended use. However, they are clean and test strongly and will perform well for a long time. These tubes and have been tested and are good. All tested tubes are at least GOOD on my Superior Instrument tube tester (most 7, 8 or 9 pin tubes) or meet the minimum strength on my U-Test-Em drug store tester (most other tubes). If a tube is labelled as untested, it is because I do not have the necesssary equipment to test it. All tubes that dont meet your expectations can be returned regardless of their test status. Sets of vacuum tubes labelled as pairs, quartets, sets, etc, came to me grouped together or labelled as such. My tube testers are not sophisticated enough to guarantee that all sets of tubes are fully matched correctly.
