Selling my fully working Acoustic Energy Active AE1s finished in Black Gloss . Bought new in 2021 , no complaints , just changing . Highly acclaimed and reviewed. Watch the A British Audiophile on youtube gave it an Outstanding rating. Excellent condition, might be a few very fine scratches on this type of lacquered speaker but nothing of significance. They will be shipped in their original packing and come with mains leads only. Theyve been used solely in our living room for modest music playback. These are fully active loudspeakers, containing Class AB power amplifiers (100W each) and analogue crossovers. NOT WIFI or Bluetooth enabled. They do require a mains supply but thats little different to having a loudspeaker cable. They can be driven directly from a stereo preamp (Ive been using an Audiolab 6000a) , they can also be driven from a good quality DAC (youd want volume control to control the pair) or even a mobile phone. Up to you. The message is you dont need a PowerAmp with these speakers. Thats inside the speaker. So getting an amp and speakers of high quality in a very small package. Speakers come with magnetic attached grills. Input is single channel either , single ended or balance XLR. (2V or 4V) Rear controls include mains on/off , volume , light bass and treble adjust. Acoustic Energy AE109 Speakers: one owner, excellent condition, boxed and complete. Selling these on as no longer required - haven’t used them for the best part of 20 years...! Purchased new from AudioT’s Swindon branch, by myself, in person, back in February 1999 - see warranty card pictured in photos. Very impressive sounding speakers and What HiFi ‘Best Buys/Recommended’ in their day. Worked very well in a NICAM stereo AV setup, due to their weighty, powerful sound and stereo imaging - benefitted action films in particular, but mostly improved any tv watching experience, especially when fed by a quality amplifier, such as an Audiolab. In fantastic overall condition for there age, sadly and rather annoyingly, the rescue cat got her claws on them when I wasn’t aware, before i put them back in storage after photographing them for listing on eBay...! Although a little unsightly, the damage is superficial, restricted to the main drivers’ foam surrounds and doesn’t affect them sonically - no doubt replacements can be sourced from Acoustic Energy or eBay, should this be of importance to the buyer...?! They are preloaded with Atacama ‘Atabites’ loading, to improve bass response, etc, so heavy again on top of their already substantial weight. Will be sent using Parcelforce’s ‘express48’ service, so any postal costs will reflect this, but they can also be collected or (if preferred) delivered/handed over, providing the distance is no more than say 75miles from Cardiff - Chievely or Strensham Services, for example, or a mutually convenient alternative location. Incredible speakers that have spent most of their life sitting unused - excellent condition for age - they look nearly new with only a few small marks. They can sound amazing if driven from a decent amp - I had them bi-amped with the Arcam Alpha 8 and the 8P power amp and the scale and depth is superb. They are fully working with no damage to the cones or tweeters - there is a small tear to the side of one of the fabric grilles somewhere but not noticeable unless you really look. Weigh a tonne so collection only (not literally obviously). Selling as dont have space for them since a move to London. Any questions please ask.
