If you collect turntables then I expect this is one you might not have come across. Not a Japanese direct drive turntable which were starting to flood the market, but made in the UK together with a range of high quality tonearms and cartridges (both expensive for their day) . It looks rather unique with its integral feet incorporated into the design. Of course ADC (an American company) is probably best known for their Accutrac turntable. However the ADC 1700 stood at the top of this product range. It was the only quartz locked direct drive model in the range the others being the 1600 (direct drive) and 1500 (belt drive). I would probably venture to say that even though this turntable came as a package, both the arm and cartridge are capable of even better performance. Hence they were sold separately at a premium. I have owned it from new and it was my first foreray into the world of vinyl lasting me 15 years before I moved to a Manticore and a moving coil cartridge. That in itself is a testiment to this turntable. It is in excellent condition considering its age and is fully working (hopefully the photos identity this). The Perspex smoked cover is in one piece and not cracked in any way even by the hinges. It is probably one if the best examples to arrive on eBay for a very long time. Over time the original box got lost/destroyed so pick up only. Turntables are rarely good travellers anyway, especially if they are vintage. Either pickup from Tring (Hertfordshire) or Malmesbury (Wiltshire) if you are happy to wait a bit longer.
