This is a very well regarding amplifier, providing 60 watts into 8 ohms or 100 watts into 4 ohms. There are two things that set this amplifier above most others. One is that it is designed as two separate amplifiers in the same chassis. So each channel has its own power transformer and bridge diodes and filter capacitors. So each channel operates independent from the other channel. The other is that there is only a single pair of output transistors per channel. Higher power amps need to have multiple output pairs per channel, but the problem is getting them matched well. So a single pair instead of multiple pairs often sounds better, and many regard this amp to sound the better within its power limits than the others in the same series. This amplifier is compact, but is pretty hefty.

You are buying the pictured ADCOM GFA-535 II 60 Wpc 0.09% THD Stereo Power Amplifier. Take a look at the Video we have going though our system with this Amp. Great Looking and Great Sounding - We used this with 2 legacy II 1990s floor standing tower speakers with a high end PHONO system. Great fidelity at both low and high volume, seems like more then its rated 60 Wpc but that may be due to its low distortion high volume. The unit is nearly scratch free, certainly no signs of abuse, very clean with no rust or corrosion. In most cases the actual idea is pretty damn simple. In the mid-1980’s Adcom did just that. It came out with a slim-line, lower powered amplifier with the raw energy to kick the day-lights out of some big name, big power competition. It was the wolf in sheep’s clothing. The best way to describe the power of the Adcom GFA-535 is comparing a simple hammer to a small sledge hammer. One can hear and feel the impact, and the item being driven pierces the resistive force. Where the 535 really shines is it’s ability to deliver difficult passages without compressing the sound. I specifically chose to run this amp with the Linn Keilidhs, not an easy speaker to drive with lower powered equipment. This Infinity Kappa series are well known to be difficult speakers to drive. My HK receiver never was able to handle the Kappa’s load. The Adcom once again using its brute strength of 100 wpc at 4 Ohms,made the Kappa’s flush. The effect of the sledge hammer!
