The Bandercorder has been tested and all functions appear to be working correctly. It has a visually pleasing appearance, with the wooden casing in very good condition. There is only some visible wear near the rewind button. The plastic casing shows some scratches, but this is normal considering the age of the device. First introduced in 1969, the ultra-thin Beocord 1200 (and 1600) were sold right up until 1974.They were no taller than a turntable and looked very elegant if placed on a wall or on the special B & O stand that was available.The 1200 was a deck-only version while the 1600 had a built-in 10 watt/channel audio amplifier.Unfortunately the “slim-line” design rendered the mechanics of this design rather wimpy, especially the brakes which didn’t do very well. In addition, the separate playback head, a welcome feature of the successful Beocord 2000, had been omitted on this model.

Apart from a worn tape head all other parts were functioning when stored. Used as an amplifier for 2 years after failure of tape head. I was not able to get repair as living in a remote location at the time.
