Welcome to my listing for my rare and unusual Canon S-30 speakers. Canon took a brief foray into audio in the 80s and 90s and these futuristic and uniquely designed loudspeakers were one of a range of speakers they designed to incorporate a very different and revolutionary way of delivering sound. UK made and designed/styled by Allen Boothroyd (MERIDIAN, CAMBRIDGE), as you can see from the design, these S-30s incorporate a downward facing driver that fires sound waves at the reflective acoustic mirror at the bottom of the frame. The result is that the sound gets dispersed in every direction, creating an unusually wide stereo field and virtually eliminating the need for a hot-spot, or single listening position to appreciate the stereo spread of a recording. With these speakers, the whole width of the sound image can be appreciated from anywhere in the room. Its really quite an unusual effect but very nice to listen to music through! These units are in great condition for their age. There are a few light surface marks from use but nothing major. These look absolutely amazing and still have a contemporary feel to this day. These are absolutely superb choices as rear speakers in a surround sound setup as they really create an uncannily 3-dimensional sound image which is perfect for films. They are also great in smaller spaces, or even a desktop setup. They really stand out in terms of their style and sound and are a very rare speaker to get hold of these days. In clean used condition and excellent working order. Cabinets in generally good condition, however the matt black finish on the tops of the speakers has gone shiny on top. Canon S-30 speakers These sound really good and the speakers and tweeters are undamaged and havent been pushed in. There are scratches to the cabinets but could be easily cleaned up i think .when in use youd hardly notice the scratches. Ive shown all the scuffs and marks in the photos. On one of the speakers there is some damage,there are bits of plastic missing on one seam on one side as shown in the photos. Doesnt affect the music at all.Still have the bracket bolts attached on the back of the speakers. Impedance 6 Ohms No speaker wire with the speakers.
