This vintage Dynaco ST-70A tube amplifier was factory-built in 1973 and is a highly sought-after piece of audio equipment. Dynaco ST-70 tube amplifier with upgrades! Ready to go plug and play sounds great! New ce manufacturing can cap 80-40-30-20 New bias circuit resistors and caps - resistors are lower value to provide for more adjustment New choke New gold plated input jacks with wider spacing to accomodate larger modern plugs. Driver board is original for 7199 tubes with new capacitors. This is one of the later style st-70s with a fiberglass green driver board, 3 hole cage mounting, and plastic insulation on the transformer leads. Chasssis is original and pits are visible with some patina. Chrome still has shine to it. The A470 and PA060 Transformers were cleaned and painted. These bells are painted gloss black. New stainless steel hardware installed on transformers. Main transformer has been isolated from chassis to prevent transfer of any vibration. New power switch. New mono/stereo switch New 5 way speaker binding posts New input jacks spaced for modern cables Selenium diode replaced with a silicon diode. Diodes installed at rectifier to protect from damage. An IEC power cord jack was installed so any performance cable can be used. I will include a standard power cable with the unit. Thermistor installed to limit startup current. Electro Harmonic EL34 power tubes are installed with GE 7199 as driver tubes. All test good. And sound great! 5AR4 rectifier tube tests excellent. I cannot identify the brand - there are no markings on it. DEAD quiet. NO hum. NO sizzle. NO hiss. It includes the bottom cover with new rubber feet and a cage. If you would like to see pictures of the bottom cover and the cage, please let me know. I can send them to you. They are both in nice condition and the cage is clean with the original brown paint. Here is a Dynaco ST-70 chassis that includes everything except transformers and quad capacitor. Chassis has surface rust, but can be sanded down and painted or powder coated. NO EXTRA HOLES! Perfect project starter! Sold as is.

Vintage Dynaco Dynakit Stereo 70 Tube Amplifier. All DYNACO Branded tubes. Unit works and sounds great. Very clean inside and out. Original, one owner since new. Still has a repair ticket from 1972 on the power cord. Also for sale on eBay separately is the Dynaco FM-1 tuner. Also in nice condition. I wiped this unit down but you can see with a little attention the chassis wil shine up great. No rust anywhere on the unit. Please check the pictures for condition. This listing is for a rare find. It is a Melos Modified Dynaco Stereo 70. Melos went on to start his own hi-fi company. His TM- 90ST uses 6550a tubes and a compactron front end. The Dynaco was likely his inspiration for that design. The amp has extensive modifications. El34 tubes have been replaced with 6550 tubes. The front end has been replaced with Compactron 6u10 tubes. A solid state rectifier was added. The power supply has been beefed up to support the new tubes. High-quality RCA inputs were added to the front. The rear sports a new power cord and a set of modern binding posts. Currently, the 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps are wired. The 16 ohm tap is capped with wire nuts. The transformer housings and case bottom were painted blue. Machined aluminum feet were added as well. The iron is original Dynaco. The tubes are a matched quad of Sovetek 6550WE. One tube is missing the center locating post. Though it is not hard to orient the tube properly. Tubes have lots of life left. The sound is very clean and detailed. The amplifier doesnt color the sound as much as some other tube amps can. You are more than welcome to demo the amplifier in person if youre near Buffalo, NY.
