Garrard model RC88/4 record changer Turntable HIFI Mono Cartridge Needle HIFI Here is a semi working turntable from the late 1950s. It was stored in a cabinet unused for many years. The unit is without a cartridge. You usually find these with GE VRII cartridges for 33 and 78rpm records. The platter mat is soft and pliable. The cartridge holder is good 3 wire with pins good. Many good parts to be had here, including a plinth. The idler wheel is a good one, I lubed some areas and tested it for speed. I ran the start stop, and speed cycle, and the motor ran speed correct. The auto cycles dont work as designed right now as they need lubricated. Many of these have bad motor mounts and idler wheels, buying those alone will cost you 50-70 dollars! This has good motor mounts and a decent idler rubber wheel. I plan to part this unit out, if it doesnt sell soon. It will need lubed and inspected fully, I just cleaned the basic idler wheel and surfaces. It comes with the walnut plinth, a headshell, and center spindle. Its a collectors item, and was a decent player in its day. You can run it stereo or mono and it has 2 RCA plugs to play stereo. Its tested, and ran quiet for several hours. It runs on 115 volts, with RCA cables for standard hookup. For those who dont know 1970s - 1980s stereo equipment, you need an amp with a phono input to run this. It doesnt just plug into any stereo from the 90s-present without a phono input. The motor runs quiet and steady. It will need restored, cleaned and lubricated It comes as pictured, without a cartridge / needle. Condition I did not detect any motor speed issues, and it functions on 45s and 33s. Its not a run ready turntable, just a parts machine right now. Selling this for parts and will split out what you need on request. The case will, with the aid of the accessories supplied with it, enable a wide range of pickup cartridges to be fitted. A thin Bakelite section known as a knockout, which can be easily broken away, is provided in the front of the case through which can pass the knob of turnover type cartridges. A hole is also located in the top of the case, covered by the Garrard name plate, for the knob of the turn round stylus type of cartridge. As this pickup case can easily be plugged in and out of the pickup arm, single stylus cartridges can be fitted having a separate case for each type of cartridge. CONDITION: Brown Bakelite plastic w molded handle. Front has opening for turnover handle for certain ceramic catridges. comes with two cartridge leads and clips for 2 wire mono. Clips fit the GE VR RPX and VR II. Does not have any cartridge mounting screws or hardware. Does not have the cover plate for the top opening.Headshell basically in new condition: Plastic is clean and glossy. No cracks, crazes or chipping.
