Vintage GEC Music Centre 2817 with Speakers & Manual - C1970 A retro music centre with Garrard turnatable, built in tape player, speakers & manual. The item powers on and the turntable spins but will need a new stylus. The cassette player buttons function on rewind and fast forward but not play and the pause button is also pressed down. The radio does not work as the needle does not move. The main unit measures 66 x 45 x 20cm and the speakers are 40 x 20 x 20cm. Due to the bulkiness & weight of this item it is collection only from Sutton Coldfield. We do have space constraints and require all collections to be made within 7 days of auction end unless by prior arrangement. After this time we reserve the right to cancel the sale and relist the item.Can I combine postage costs? We are happy to combine postage costs where possible. Genuine 70s Retro sound. Sold as seen and requiring attention. This stereo system dates from the 70s ,has been in storage for many years, and now needs an enthusiast to appreciate and restore it to its past glory. I have powered it up and have noticed the following: Receiver sounds nice on FM I havent tried the other bands. Tape recorder doesnt work, possibly needs new belts and servicing. Record player works on manual and sounds good. Stylus seems ok The automatic function is not working. I understand that oil on the mechanism is prone to drying. This will need looking at in order to restore it to full working order. Controls are crackling when moved and need cleaning, as you would expect. Speakers sound fine, a small hole in one front cloth, as shown in photos. Some paint marks. I think that covers it. It comes with the original packaging. Garrard SP25 MK11 Vintage Record Player 16 33 45 78 Vintage record player. I couldnt connect speakers to it due to the connections, but you can hear the music from the player, so I know it works. The speed changes ok. The arm doesnt seem to go to the right position on 33, so Im not sure if thats a user error or a fault. You can position the arm manually. The arm lift also didnt seem to work, I manually lifted the arm. Spring suspension, see photo 8. There are a couple of little watermarks in the wood on the top. See photo 9. Im selling this as spares and repairs, due to the sometimes tempermental nature of vintage hi-fi but it is all working and in good condition for its age, there are various age related marks etc, as to be expected of used items. Sold as seen in photos. Due to the fragile nature and size, collection only from the edge of Long Stratton in Norfolk.
