IT IS FITTED WITH A GARRARD RC 121 Mk2 AUTOCHANGE DECK WHICH HAS 4 SPEEDS AND A TWIN VALVE PUSH PULL TYPE AMPLIFIER. THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST MODEL IN A LONG LINE OF SRP 31s AND DIDNT USE THIS AUTOCHANGE UNIT FOR VERY LONG. IT WAS SOON REPLACED WITH THE MORE FAMILIAR GARRARD 210 SO THIS ONE IS VERY HARD TO FIND, ESPECIALLY IN WORKING CONDITION. AS FAR AS I CAN ASCERTAIN THIS UNIT IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CARTRIDGE WHICH HAS BEEN CHANGED OUT FOR A MORE MODERN TYPE UTILISING A FLIP OVER STYLUS. ALTHOUGH IN WORKING CONDITION BOTH THE DECK AND THE AMPLIFIER WILL BENEFIT FROM A SERVICE SO THIS ONE IS SOLD AS SEEN. I HAVE STACKED IT UP WITH HALF A DOZEN 78s AND IT PLAYED THROUGH THEM FINE. THE SPEED SELECTOR KNOB IS STIFF BUT IT DOES ENGAGE ALL FOUR SPEEDS. THE RUBBER TURNTABLE MAT IS STILL SUPPLE UNLIKE MOST OF THESE OLD PLAYERS WHERE IT HAS TURNED HARD AND BRITTLE. THERE ARE FOUR SPEEDS AVAILABLE AND ABOUT 8 RECORDS CAN BE STACKED ON THE SPINDLE TO PLAY ONE AFTER THE OTHER IN AUTO MODE. THE DECK UTLISES A FEELER ARM TO GAUGE THE SIZE OF THE RECORD SO THAT THE PICK UP KNOWS WHERE TO LAND. Offered for your consideration is one (1) GARRARD Type LRS3 Large Record Spindle, manufactured in England c.1967. This spindle is for playing large hole 7” 45 RPM records on GARRARD’s RC88 and RC98 record changers. The spindle comes in its retail box with sealed-bag spring clips and loose small rod, both of which I believe are original. It bears the old box that refers to four wood screws when only two are included in the bag with the, evidently, revised clips (or the print was an error all along?). The later box looks identical and has the screw quantity corrected to two. I just wanted to let you know that, unlike most sellers, I’m not oblivious to details, no matter how small. So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this useful GARRARD record changer accessory should be yours. This GARRARD LRS3 is in clean, excellent condition. There are no dings, cracks, or noteworthy scratches to the sturdy cream-colored metal and plastic housing, just some tiny, practically invisible marks from the years, as pictured. It’s in such nice shape that I can’t even be certain it’s ever been used? Overall, it presents exceptionally well. It is the part that transmits the weight of the turntable to the chassis. It is the lower race of the main thrust bearing. The rubber rings prevents turntable rumble to be transmitted to the main chassis and the tonearm. Pls note that the upper race and the lower race are not identical, the upper race has a wider inner diameter The actual washer and rubber ring is shown in pictures 2 and 3. This is the standard version used on most turntables from the 1950s, e.g. TYPE A RC88 RC120 RC98 basically anything after RC80 and before LAB 80This is a main part of the platter bearing. Pls note that for proper function you will also need the upper bearing race washer, which fits at the bottom of the shaft. Without this, the turntable will not run on the bearing balls.
