The Home Theatre Standard literally set the standard by which all other pieces were compared. The sound and build quality were second to none and the fit and finish were exemplary. Only later, did Mark Levinson and Madrigal Labs with the Proceed line seem to get close. This piece has a special place in my A/V memory... It was sold to a great client of ours, who used it for years until trading up to McIntosh.It had been sitting in the dark for sometime, when I finally got around to testing it.Obviously, as a processor, it is completely antiquated. However, as a two-channel pre-amp with the ability to decode a 5.1 mix, it is superb!I have listened to it for hours and its soundstage, image and depth are beyond amazing for its age.The noise floor is beyond belief and rivals some of our best gear. The internals seem to be excellent; even the caps show no signs of stress! The Home Theater Standard listed for $10,000 (as I recall) which was an absolute fortune 25 years ago! At the time, it was far and away the most expensive piece of equipment we sold. The remote feels like a solid billet of aluminum (it is!) and works perfectly.All the lights work; the switches, the display is as bright as it was when new.Its the best example of an iconic piece of gear I think Ive seen in years...
