Used 1960s sales leaflet for Leak Stereo 30 transistor integrated amplifier. Approx size is 8 x 9.75, 6 sides. Fair condition, with folds & creases, as shown in the photos. UK delivery only.

Up for sale here is this set of 2 used vintage Sprague Black Beauty 160P capacitors. They are marked .039 uf 200v, and test around .04827 uf and .05083 uf, with extremely low leakage/ESR. These will work great at full voltage, but would be awesome guitar tone caps as well. These were removed from a piece of vintage McIntosh tube gear. Please see my pictures for details. Leak Stereo 20 power amplifier, manufactured in 1960, restored and ready to be used. All new high grade passive components. No modifications have been made to the original design of the circuitry except for where equivalent component values are no longer available so it should sound the same, or even better than when it was made in 1960? Cosmetically immaculate. There are some minor marks such as slight wear to paint on corners/edges and pinholes as shown in the photos that form part of the description. Note: this amp was designed in the 1950s to be mounted inside a cabinet, hence there are electrical safety issues if it was exposed. I have addressed many of these issues to make the amp as safe as possible when it is used on display. The bottom of the amp has been left open but a ventilated cover plate can be contained on ebay for ~£25 for further electrical protection if needed. All Resistors have been replaced with over-rated (higher wattage), high quality 2W and 5W Kiwame and Allen Bradley components. The 100? Fuse Resistor has been replaced by a 5W resistor and a Fuse has been added in-line to protect the output transformers in the event of a failure. FYI, the minimally rated fuse resistor was designed to drop off if it over-heated enough to melt the solder connections. All signal path Capacitors have been replaced with high quality F&T polyester and Mallory aluminium electrolytic components. Reservoir Capacitors have been re-stuffed with Nichicon VY polyester electrolytics to retain the original appearance. The front can is polished rather than trying to match the paint colour to the original. My objective was to restore the sound, make it safe and restore the appearance where possible. Phono Inputs have been upgraded with gold-plated components. Speaker Output terminals have been replaced with 4mm Banana Sockets. Power Input plug & socket has been removed to make electrically safe: the original Bulgin leaded socket can unscrew in situ exposing live terminals. There has been some replacement wire in the power supply wiring where original wire insulation had become brittle. Auxiliary Power Output Sockets have been removed to make electrically safe. Switch cable has been replaced by a dual-pole Power Switch and slow-startup device to protect the amp when it is switched on. This amp will be supplied with a full set of used Valves, from my stock, so that it will work out of the box. The new owner can then choose the valves that they prefer in the future if they want to upgrade. This Power Amp does not require a Powered pre-amp so most pre-amps will work, including a Passive Pre-Amp. I have tested this amp using an Onkyo Integra P-304 pre-amp. I prefer to use DPD for delivery but the item will only be insured for £50 for delivery. If the buyer wishes to insure the item for its full value then please contact me as the insurance is IRO £70. I acquired this equipment about 10 years ago and went through the power amp replacing out of tolerance components. I fitted 2 pairs of Svetlana EL34 output valves which had been matched after burning in. The Varislope 2 Stereo pre-amp has been similarly checked. (Notes from this work and out of tolerance components are available if required.) The speakers are a pair of B&W DM 3s. The set up works very well to my elderly ears! I used it for several years but it has now been superseded hence this sale. Also included is a Trough Line 3 tuner which I have not looked at or used so probably needs refurbishing. (I have included another tuner chassis complete with its set of Mullard valves as a source of spares for this.) There are also original (not copies) of instructions for all 3 pieces of Leak equipment which each include the relevant circuit diagram. Also available as an alternative is a set of Brimar EL34 valves - the purchaser can listen and decide whether they want to take it with the Svetlana or Brimar valves. The three ECC83 valves on the power amp are all Mullards. Please see photos for details and condition of all items. The faults that I am aware of are:-1. The power amp has a few minor bits of paint damage but is really in quite remarkable original condition.2. The pre-amp has had several of the switch positions bypassed due to faulty contacts. The unit could benefit from some refurbishment. It is not cased unlike the tuner.3. The speakers have some minor superficial scratches on the wood finish. I am not electrically qualified so this is sold on the proviso that the purchaser has it appropriately checked before use. Due to the nature of the set-up it is for collection only. The purchaser can listen to it on site.

I never connected to power myself but it was carefully checked by the professional. As per professional: the main tx and output transformers appear to be ok. With all the valves fitted except the GZ34 rectifier all is fine, the filaments all work and the valves all heat up. However when the GZ34 rectifier is inserted it blows the mains fuse with about 3 seconds. I swapped it out for another GZ34 I have, but it still does the same, which suggests there is a fault somewhere. The problem is almost certainly connected with the high voltage power supply, and is likely to be either the main psu capacitors or the choke but I didnt go further as it would require disassembly of parts of the inside, and it would no longer look original, which would spoil it for some potential customers if he just wants to move it on. All parts are still in the original condition, nothing was removed or dismounted. I decided to sell it to someone who like to repair himself or keep original.Any questions please ask.Please study pictures for overall condition.
