Ive cleaned and re-oiled the bearing which is in excellent order. Fitted the Linn Basik LVX Plus (great bearings, no notches) and Linn K18 cartridge which is in very good order, with a nice straight cantilever.I see so many bent ones on Ebay with sellers saying theyre in good condition! The classic Linn-Linn-Linn combination is working superbly and can be demonstrated by arrangement. Bring a record or two and listen to as many tacks as you need to (within reason). The lid has a few slight scratches (see pictures) but has no splits or cracks. The hinges work fine and more than adequately support the lid when open. Im hoping to locate a suitable bung for the armboard to blank the hole used for an Ittok arm rest. ** I have now found a suitable bung for the armboard as shown on the last picture, indicated by a red arrow ** As this is a collection only item, cash on collection only please.

As is typical of Greaves plinths, the mitres are solid, the plinth is true and is fitted with an original top plate which is in excellent condition save for some surface marks near the motor aperture. The Linn Basik LV X arm operates perfectly and is in excellent condition with great bearings and comes with the standard arm cable and new Linn suspension. It also has the original Valhalla PSU which is in great shape. OverviewPoints of note (pictured)There are some light signs of use on the plinth top near the back left edge and on the front left edge. The arm has some light marks on the head shell from previous cartridge fittings. There are some light surface scratches to the lid but it is very presentable.The glue for the serial number sticker on the rear has lost some strength in some areas.This deck is an excellent entry level specification example that represents excellent value for money.

Buying an LP12 second hand can be like swimming in sharkinfested waters. Many that appear on here have been in somebody’s loft for 30years and then somebody finds them and puts them straight on ebay! An LP12 is extremely unlikely to work and performperfectly after that long in hibernation, which is why all of my turntables arecompletely stripped, cleaned, oiled/varnished/painted as required and thenrebuilt using the original Linn parts, where they are sound, or replacementparts, if they are needed. Finally, they are rebuilt on a Linn Jig and then expertlyset up and tested before being put up for sale. You may pay a little extra for one of my turntables, butin life, you generally get what you pay for. And what you are getting here is adeck that is in a condition not too unlike it left the factory and it is likelyto give you years of great service. If it doesn’t, you can come back to me. There are cheaper ones out there, certainly, but if youbuy a cheap deck, not only will you probably not experience the full, true,legendary Linn sound, but you may also end up splashing out a lot of cashputting a 40 year old deck right, if it’s had a hard life. I do offer a restoration service on these decks and thetypical cost of putting a bad deck right is usually around £500. Similarly, if you could see some of the cartridges thatcome fitted to some of the decks that I buy in, you wouldn’t risk your recordcollection on it! To make sure that your records stay safe, I have fitted abrand new AT VM95E cartridge and stylus – so, you can play your cherished vinylwith confidence. As well as every component being thoroughly checked, allof my decks are sold with fresh Linn oil, new belts, new springs, new or serviceablehinges and the suspended chassis will have been finely tuned to bounceperfectly. Naturally, they are all tested too and they won’t leavehere unless they function perfectly and sound great. Indeed, it will be allready to plug into your system and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I always carry healthystocks of : Lingo 1, Lingo 4, Hercules or Radikal power supplies and so weshould be able to provide what you want. HELP BUILDING A FULL SYSTEM If you are looking to build a full system, eitherlavishly or on a budget around an LP12, I can also help you with that, eitherfrom my collection or by sourcing items for you - new or used. I cannot stress enough the benefits of collecting yourturntable in person - if at all possible. If you collect in person, you can seeit, I can demonstrate the deck, you can if you wish listen to it and everythingwill be set up and ‘ready to go’ - indeed, with just a few basic deconstructsto enable you to get it home safely, you’ll be in business when you get homeinside 2 minutes. I make no apologies for choosing to not to ‘post’turntables. They regularly get damaged to some degree with standard couriersand it isn’t always easy for me to resolve issues at a distance. Let’s face it, if you’re spending this amount on aprecision instrument you owe it yourself to either pick it up or to have itsafely delivered to you.
