Restoration Details This unit was meticulously restored by Marblehead Audio in July of 2023. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, including the large off board coupling and main capacitors We used either Wima Film (for 4.7uf or smaller) or Nichicon & Panasonic electrolytic capacitors. We exclusively use low ESR or low leakage, high-quality electrolytic capacitors. Wima film caps are an upgrade over the original electrolytic capacitors providing superior sound and virtually unlimited life. The coupling capacitors were replaced with high quality 3300uf 63v United Chem-Con capacitors. Similarly, the main capacitor was replaced with a Kemet 4700uf 80v capacitor. All capacitors are of equal or (in most cases) increased voltage. A select few filter capacitors were increased in capacitance to provide better bass and transient response. A number of known problematic transistors were also replaced. Not all transistors were replaced, nor should they be. We replace only those that are known problems since production of the 1060. Similar to the transistors, we replaced a few select diodes. We replaced the original audio adjustment trimming resistors with high quality new Bourns trimmers. These trimmers allow for dialing in the audio adjustments to precision which we did upon completion of the restoration process. All switches, pots, fuses, push button and other non-soldered connection points (rca inputs, speaker connections, etc) were treated with Caig products.Cosmetics This 1060 came to us in almost flawless physical condition. There are two very faint scratches on the faceplate near the lettering stating console. The bonnett, rear panel and all other areas are flawless as is the lettering on the faceplate. We thoroughly cleaned the unit inside and out.Description The Marantz 1060 is a stereo console amplifier featuring three line inputs, one phono input and a tape loop. This listing is for a Marantz 1060 Stereo Console (Integrated) Amplifier in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. It is rated at 30 wpc @ 8?. The unit has been tested/serviced. It features Pre-Out/Main-In jacks that allow separate use of these functions, as well as a simple way to make use of a graphic equalizer or other sound processor equipment. A pair of original Marantz jumpers are included. The Amplifier and Power Supply boards were re-capped with quality Nichicon capacitors. A new LED was installed in the power indicator. A copy of the owner’s manual will be included. The following outline covers the testing/service work done: · All speaker connections have been tested and are working, both right and left channels · Tuner, Aux 1 & 2 and Tape inputs and outputs were tested and function as expected. · Phono input functions as expected. · Headphone jack was tested and is working. · All Switches and Potentiometers were flushed with contact cleaner, followed by treatment with the appropriate DeoxIt treatment. · The faceplate and all knobs were removed, cleaned and hand polished. · The Power indicator lamp was replaced with an LED style lamp. · The Amplifier and Power Supply boards were recapped with quality Nichicon capacitors. · The original output transistors were removed/cleaned/tested and re-installed with fresh heat sink compound. · Cleaning on all exterior surfaces was done to improve appearance · The foam cushioning used on the underside of the metal top was replaced to ensure a better fit. · The power cord was inspected and cleaned. · The original Marantz Pre-Out/Main-In jumpers are included. · Any missing top cabinet or bottom plate screws were replaced. · All feet were inspected and replaced as needed. · DC Offset and Idle Current adjustments were set to factory specification · Watts/channel was checked using a Peak and RMS Output Meter to meet/exceed model specs · A final extended use test was performed to ensure functionality. Please note: While this unit is in excellent condition, it is not without marks and other signs of wear. The most notable is a small nick on the faceplate near the screw on upper left corner (see picture).
