Unit powers on. All buttons illuminate. Everything seems to work fine except the gear that spins the cassette tape does not spin. If you hit play or fastforward rewind, etc, the unit seems to try for a moment and then jumps to stop/pause automatically. I have no idea if this is an easy fix and the unit can be repaired easily? I do not know the unit very well. The player is in excellent cosmetic condition. Very little wear or scuffs. See pictures. Remote not included. Does not come with the original box, but I will make sure to package the unit with great care This Nakamichi cassette player and recorder is a top-of-the-line model with a variety of features and functions. Nakamichi CA 7A high End Preamplifier MC Phono -Mint Inside with Sound Adjustments. Condition is Used. Industry’s Top rated Phono input. Please look else where for deals on the CA 7A ( I suspect you have not understood the value of this Preamp - its phono amplifier (for MC cartridge) rivals $multi thousand phono-only preamplifiers) one would be an Electronic Audio Engineer to understand it’s value. It will come with power chord/ printed user manual (CA 7A) and small guide to using the remote. The remote Volume button will remotely change the volume…mute button also will mute. Channel selection is by pressing number 1 to 8 exactly similar to the OM remote. If you happen to have CR 7A cassette recorder with proper connecting cable, this remote can control CR 7A like the original. Since I do not have the specific cable, I could not test it. I have not used any chemicals -( I do not recommend it) - inside this preamplifier. The unique manual or remote controlled volume knob is a high- quality sealed potentiometer- requiring no maintenance, no pot cleaner...( DeOxit is not solution for all). Also some of the Potentiometers used in this are actually high quality multi- position switches connected to high quality resistors. This was the absolute top of the line of the Preamplifiers in its day. (Thusly, not many realize the value of this preamplifier). It uses… not easily obtainable… Toshiba FET's ( the value of these… along with Potentiameter… would cost more than $ 1000, should one attempt to buy them today). Its power supply are dual independent transformers/rectifiers/caps/ and diodes… along with PS regulators. Listen to this alone without any other components in between solely quality power amplifier… and let me know how it sounds. It has three band tone controls with minimal boost/cut subliminally adjusting the sound quality into excellent (when room or individual hearing may calls for tweaked tone levels). Have a good time with it- use the 3- prong power connector with proper ground for safety. You can keep it functioning on standby, by pressing the remote power button …after you manually push the power button. WITH REMOTE.
