It is a DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) combined with amplifier and bass booster. This device is originally intended for use with Apple computers, I-phone, and I-pad, but it also works with Android devices that support USB OTG and some Linux OS. It is also known to work with windows 10 after installing a driver software (downloadable from the manufacturer support site).
