I have not used it for 3-4 years so it will need a good professional cleaning The drawer to the CD compartment is little sticky for lack of use but if one would press open & close button repeatedly, it will eventually open when you can load a CD and it will play it like a dream. As the operation of the platter is similar to turntable behaviour where the CD is placed with shiny side up, the laser will read it from above like a stylus of a turntable. The laser pointing downwards theres no possibility for the laser to ever suffer any marks or wear of any kind. It has not been used for 3-4 years so it will need activating by pushing the button for opening and closing the tray/platter repeatedly. Once it opens, load your CD and it will work like a dream but it could do with good servicing. Its so heavy it weighs a ton. Its a rare sort after Pioneer model so much that whoever bought one they never parted with it. If it was not for my disability I would not let it go.
