ProAc Studio 1 Drive Units for Repair Only I have replaced the drive units on my pair of ProAc Studio 1s as the foam surrounds had perished. New Information Since initially advertising these units on 28th August it was suggested I carry out a cone test. Having done so one drive unit cone does move more freely than the other, therefore there is a good chance one of the units has more of an issue than a perished surround. I dont know whether one unit is worth repairing or whether the other one is salvageable too, I will accept an offer. I dont really want to take these to the recycling centre. I understand that they can be repaired with a new foam kit. Therefore these 2 x drive units are offered for sale as repair only. The units are 7 (18cms) wide and 3 (7cms high) Drive units are just over 2 kg each hence delivery price

Matched pair of ProAc Studio 100 woofers. For people who are farmiliar with the ProAc Studio 100 Monitors which have been used in major recording studios for years, they are a rare find. They are the original ProAc Studio 100 woofer how do i know? They have the black steel frames used in the 90s not the newer Blue anodized aluminum frames that Scan Speak now makes.I purchased these as backups for my studio from a speaker repair shop in Los Angeles. Supposedly, he purchased them from Capital Records when they cleaned out their storage areas a few years back. He lovingly refoamed the edges.Both have the original spiders and paper cones (which is where all the magic happens). You can only purchase these woofers with the ProAc logo from ProAc and they are $500.00 each. This speaker is 8 ohm.

I am a recording engineer with a studio in the Twin Cities.  We use the classic ProAc Studio 100's which have been used on thousands of recordings since the 90's for our studio monitors.  They are very rare and expensive, so I thought I would give their predecessors a try, which are these ProAc Studio 1's.  My findings are: The cabinets for the Studio 100's & Studio 1's are exactly the same, no difference except tweeters are offset on the 100’s.  The woofers are pretty much the same also.  The big difference is in the crossovers and tweeters.  The tweeters in the Studio 100's use a fabric tweeter very pleasing, the studio 1's use a metal titanium tweeter, much too harsh for my taste.  The crossovers are very different also, besides the obvious fact you can bi-amp the 100's, the 1'syou cannot, also the crossover points are very different.  So I purchased the replacement tweeters from Seas (see picture) for the Studio 100's and added a tweeter volume knob on the backs (see picture).  I replaced the ProAc crossovers with the Eminence PXB crossovers ($80.00 each see picture) , they have the closest specs to the Studio 100 crossovers of any I could find. The result is the speakers sound unbelievable, not exactly like the 100's but very close at a fraction of the cost.  I am including the original tweeters and crossovers all in working condition for this price.  One of the speakers I did route out around the tweeter to fit the new tweeter.  But the old tweeters will fit right in as usual same mounting screws. The grills are in excellent shape.  Cherry veneer.
