Original Rogers LS3/5A Speakers purchased from estate of the original owner. All drivers and crossover parts are original and they sound amazing with both the tube and solid state amplifiers I have powered them with. From my understanding the the gold badge was reservered for special woods used in the cabinets, and I believe these are teak. The badges, however are a bit damaged but replacements can be found online. Matching serial numbers S03051A + S03051B and stamp inside the cabinet that date these from November 1977. The grilles are included (the frames need to be refurbished as they are fading and fine dust is falling off). ROGERS LS5/9 VINTAGE SPEAKERS MATCHED Originally black ash but quite badly scratched, I have re-veneered these in book-matched oak. The top and right front edges of one speaker’s veneer is slightly less flush compared to the rest but this is only noticeable when looking directly down or side on, and does not detract from the overall appearance, which is very good. The drivers are all in excellent condition, as are the grills. PLEASE NOTE Pictured stands are NOT included in this auction Although I do not have the original packaging, these will be shipped in a custom made box with strong (3 cm wide) foam inserts to protect the corners and sides. I cant see any marks other than on the base where some blu tak was put in the corner to help stick them to the stands as pictured. If you do see a sign of use then please respect that they are not brand new. Putting them in the used category covers me against anyone finding a mark and asking for money back. As with all used things, if you need a 100% guarantee that you wont find a single mark then you have the option to find some that have never been opened. I have been asked to show the insides of these speakers I can be able to make them £1495 if you collect them and pay old fashioned money on collection or if you wish to arrange your own courier and take responsibility yourself. ROGERS LS3/5a 15 ohms. Conçue en 75 par la BBC,cette petite enceinte mythique, souvent surnommée la boite à chaussures offre une musicalité rarement atteinte. Certes elle a quelques faiblesses, grave limité, faible rendement mais elle reste une vraie référence pour les audiophiles. On reconnaît généralement à la Ls3/5a une reproduction très détaillée et une grande transparence (à savoir très peu de distorsions et de vibrations parasites). On peut alors parler de précision, de neutralité,de grande finesse de reproduction. Le registre médium et la reproduction des voix sont particulièrement exceptionnels ! Celles-ci font partie des premières construites (env. 1977) ce qui explique lébénisterie légèrement décolorée (voir photos) Elles ont leur âge mais sont très bien conservées malgré quelques légers défauts daspect, et sonnent parfaitement! Lovely clean speakers. Very fine well looked after. I cant think there would be a more up together example. I cant see any marks other than on the base where some blu tak was put in the corner to help stick them to the stands as pictured. If you do see a sign of use then please respect that they are not brand new. Putting them in the used category covers me against anyone finding a mark and asking for money back. As with all used things, if you need a 100% guarantee that you wont find a single mark then you have the option to find some that have never been opened. Rogers LS3/5a Speakers 15 Ohm Gold Badge 1974 Brown Cloth Grills 12mm Ply Wood Cabinets No Serial Numbers - A & B Etched On The Back Panel These speakers were originally owned by a BBC engineer who worked at the BBC Design Department at Western House in London. They do not have any serial numbers and just have an A & B simply etched on the back panel. They are believed to be a pre production pair which were sent to the BBC for final approval prior to the BBC licence being granted and before main production got underway. The Speakers have been appraised by LS3/5a.com and after comparing and cross referencing with there large data base of historical technical data on the LS3/5a they have confirmed that the construction and components used in this pair of speakers would indicate that they are one of the very earliest pairs ever made by Rogers in 1974. At some point during the mid to late 1970s the Speakers were given to a family relative as a gift and have spent the last 45 years or so in there living room where they have provided many years of musical pleasure. In full working working condition, the listening experience is balanced and detailed. Condition is as seen in the photos with some expected ageing to the cabinets but overall very good. The Speakers will be very well packed and you will receive them exactly as seen in the photos.
