It is fully tested 100% working and sounds very smooth and detailed with a really impressive phono stage and a lot of power for its rated 30 Watts.Cosmetically it is very clean throughout with some minor blemishes only. At some point the cover was neatly resprayed in a smart matt black. The Eighties were a glorious time for budget integrated amplifiers. Sales (and the resultant profits) were huge, leading manufacturers to fight tooth and nail for a larger piece of the pie. The great news for buyers was an escalation in sonic ability that hasn’t been repeated since. The RA820BX we have here, kindly loaned to us by Rotel UK, is an excellent example of the kind of product made at the time. However, our story doesn’t start with Rotel at all. It begins with a small, then London-based company called New Acoustic Dimension, better known as NAD. In the late Seventies, NAD launched the now legendary 3020 integrated amplifier. This was an unassuming thing with basic features and a fairly flimsy build. The amplifier was unexceptional in most regards apart from the fact that it was affordable, and sounded great. Welcome to my listing for my Rotel RA-820AX Amplifier. This classic amplifier is a sought after and great sounding unit. It delivers audio with warmth, dynamics and great clarity and imaging. The headphone output is also of very high quality, as is the phono stage. There are subtle tone controls on board or the option to bypass them, for the cleanest possible signal path. The problem is that I can hear slight distortion to the signal sometimes. You really have to listen for it as its not always there but becomes a bit more obvious with louder low frequency signals. I dare say it would be hardly noticeable for some people but I can hear it and have to mention it as it may have an issue. Its beyond my skills to diagnose this so Im starting the auction at 99p so someone can grab a great bargain, especially if theyre not too bothered by this very slight issue, or if they have the know how to give it a service and some TLC! This is a heavy and very well made amplifier in great cosmetic condition. Please study the photographs to see how nice condition it is in. Every dial and switch operates as it should. There are a few light marks on the top panel but nothing major. Replaced only because I found myself needing support for HDMI audio out. Includes the optional phono stage, not been used with turntable for some time but again was working perfectly before being relocated for use with the projector (turntable now has a Cambridge Audio A5 instead because its in a different room). Great little mid-range analog only hi-fi amp. Can be sent via Parcel Force / UPS etc or collect in person.

Rotel RA-820 Stereo Integrated Amplifier. Tested by connecting tuner and single speaker. Works well on all outputs apart from Phono where it is crackly. Sound was faint on the right hand speakers on both A and B. Fine on both on the left hand side. So this will need looking at. Overall very good condition with a couple Of minor marks here and there.
