Philips Portable Reel-to-Reel EL3527 Also sold as the Stellaphone ST451 Sweet looking late-1950s Philips Reel-to-reel player and recorder, one of the first products from the manufacturer to feature a printed circuit board. Lovely condition with a classic retro look, great construction and built to last. I cant see any major issues with this, needs a clean and obviously a service. I dont have any suitable media on 5 spools to test the unit, so its sold as spares or repairs. That said, it does power on, the reels move backward and forward, and when recording is selected the light illuminates. Also includes the original microphone with integrated stand. Internally there are, I believe, valve models EF86, ECC83 and ECL82. A quick visual check these do light up, but that is as far as I have got with this. The capstan rotates but the reels do not move - it probably needs new drive belts at least. The amplifier makes a loud crackling noise as if a component is breaking down. The sponge discs in the lid are breaking up. It comes fitted with a 2-pin plug. See the pictures for condition - they form part of the description. Collection only as it weighs about 28lbs.
