Given the technology that these speakers represent, not to mention their sound quality, I would not be surprised if they retailed at around $10,000/pair. Directed light makes the fabric appear gray; I did not want to change the brightness/contrast so that you see the details well. Specifications: Dimensions: 8-1/8” w x 12-3/8” D x 44-1/4” H Weight: 40 lbs Frequency response: 26Hz- 35 kHz Efficiency: 90dB Nominal impedance: compatible with 8 ohms Driver Complement: Two 6” high-definition cast-basket bass/midrange drivers coupled to Four 8” planar sub-bass radiators One HVFR High-Velocity Folded Ribbon Tweeter Rec. Amplification: 15-400 Watt/channel Stereophile.com writes the following about these speakers: “…At their best, they were musically transcendent- they loved Bach, Bruckner, Thelonious Monk, and Moondog. At their worst, they sounded beautiful but kind of soft and accommodating…Most important, at $1999.98, a pair of Triton Fives could be worth several times that price-especially if you take care to audition them with a range of amplifiers”. I used them with McIntosh 6850, and with Anthem STR amplifier. They played differently of course, but with both, they were brilliant with the music played by small jazz combos and solo instruments, and with small groups of players up to quartets- I did not like their rendition of orchestral music. But this is just my opinion. With any type of music, the sound is very pleasant. Purchased from GoldenEar 5 years ago. Used at the end of the work week for 1-2 hours- did not have time for more. Serial numbers are not sequential but very close. They play as good as new- after the break-in period. There is a superficial scratch at the base of one speaker with no discoloration, but no other cosmetic blemishes- see photos. The speakers will be sent in the original packaging with everything that came with them- spikes and manuals. Questions are very welcome! If you live in North Carolina, you can pick them up. Please note that the shipping price eBay gives you is for one speaker- you must multiply by two what the shipping calculator tells you.
