This is a Western Electric 551 Horn Driver. Please check the ohm reading. Please take a look at the photos and the video. It seems work very well. But this is as is. The RCA horn on the video is not the part of the sale. What you see is what you get. No Refund and No Return.

You are bidding on a Western Electric Type 549W Horn Speaker Driver from the 1920s. The driver itself is mounted inside a case, with a Type 8-B mounting bracket. The driver is good measuring about 1200 ohms. It is in nice all original condition. I removed the driver from the case so that the type number could be read, and photos taken. There are still seals on the screws that would allow a look inside the driver, so I left them intact, and did not look inside. This was apparently owned by station KMBC, as those call letters are lightly scratched in the case and bracket. The cap over the threaded nipple for attaching the horn is still present. I believe the threads are the same as for a 555 driver. The driver itself, with cap, are black painted solid brass. The case and bracket are black painted iron. It has a nice original Western Electric decal on one side. This driver is not encountered as often as the similar 551W, and the case and bracket are seldom seen. It measures roughly 6 1/8 by 4 1/2 inches in cross section, and is 7 3/4 inches in overall length. It should be a great driver for your horn! Shipping weight is 11 pounds. No shipping to China. For sale: original 35 feet (~ 10.7 meters) wire for WE 555 horn driver marked “Middle Frequency ” from WE 1086/87B amplifier system used in Talkie Movie Theater with 1935 ERPI “Mirrophonic” Sound System in New York City. Wires used to provided connection between output sound coil power distribution cabinet/ WE TA-7275 speaker crossover in amplifier/projector room and stage. See pictures of junction box and stage horns distribution box (not included). Actual length is about 35 feet. Solid tinned copper conductor is about 14 Gauge (1.7 mm diameter) in tight braided Black fabric jacket. Wires are very dusty from removing during demolition. Insulation condition: conductor is good and bright after 70 years, pulled from metal tube conduits, see pictures. Wires sold AS IS no return because of age. We combine items for shipping. ?

You are bidding on a Western Electric horn speaker from the early 1920s. It is in fairly nice condition and the driver is good, measuring about 100 ohms. The brass bell/neck appears to be the same as for the Model 182AW shawphone horn. The driver is smaller than for the shawphone, and has no markings. The driver measures 2 3/8 inches in diameter. The bell is 3 1/2 inches in diameter for an overall height of 12 1/2 inches. I had to add one layer of paper card around the end of the neck for the bell to fit tightly in the driver. It is an interesting horn. It should be great for your Western Electric collection. Shipping weight is 3 pounds. No shipping to China.
