This sale is for a #705-C Filter manufactured by Collins for 500 Hz CW and installed on a board specifically designed by INRAD (International Radio) to mount inside a Yaesu FRG-100 receiver. This Collins filter can be mounted in a variety of receivers / transceivers, but was supplied on a board to allow the owner to make the installation with minimal technical skills and effort. Please note that this filter is discontinued and so is no longer available to purchase from Collins or INRAD. And having it mounted on a special board for the FRG-100 makes it especially attractive for the owners of the FRG-100 that want to be able to have a narrow filter to tune CW transmissions in the amateur radio bands on the HF frequencies. We have been selling radio items on Ebay regularly for many years and have had our hands on some scarce and unusual items and this is the first time that we have ever seen this #705-C filter. It is likely that we will never see another to offer for sale and so our selling price reflects this scarcity. Here is the page on the INRAD site to see the specs for the filter:https://www.inrad.net/product.php?productid=14&cat=0&page=1 (copy and paste into your browser) The pictures above show the filter, the actual original purchase receipt, and also what the installation looks like once placed inside the receiver. We took a picture of the appearance prior to removal for the buyer to observe for ease of installation. The filter board merely pushes down on the metal pins designed to hold the filter board on the FRG-100s main board. Please use the Ebay shipping calculator to determine your shipping cost. This cost includes proper packing materials for safe delivery and insurance cost against damage or loss. Those buyers living outside the USA are also welcome to purchase from us. Please Note: In order to avoid unintentional keyword spamming when searching for specific receivers, we have added an asterisk with some of the models below to remain in compliance with Ebay listing policies. Thank you! This sale is for an FRG-100 receiver. Cosmetically, the unit is used and this particular unit despite being used, is in nice overall condition with some minor marks from previous ownership. Please look at our pictures for specifics on the cosmetics as we have provided HD pictures to enable you to magnify for close-up observation. Electronically, everything works as designed by the engineers at Yaesu and the receiver has excellent sensitivity across the many bands. Production of the FRG-100 ran from 1993 through 2005.This FRG-100 comes with large amount of items that should appeal to the shortwave hobby enthusiast:copy of the user manual Technical manual copy (service manual 79 pages)AC adapter (not original but properly sized and low noise)FRG-100 reference guide copyFRG-100 SWL Tips - by Dr PhilPhils Radio Tuning Tricks - Phil has contributed greatly to the hobby with his releases such as thisYaesu Radio Company brochure copy (4 pages)Universal Radio catalog page - 1995WRTH advertisement - 1994 (World Radio & Television Handbook)WRTH advertisement - 1998Passport advertisement - 1995 (Passport To World Band Radio)Passport FRG-100 Whitepaper review - Edition 2.0Medium Wave Circle reviewElectronics Australia review - July 1993WRTH review - 1993Passport review - 1995Passport review - 1996 (FRG-100B)Passport review - 1999 (FRG-100B)Additionally, we will be enclosing a CD containing many of these documents plus more items for your enjoyment. This is about 570 MB of documents and represents an amazing amount of documentation for this receiver. We do not sell this CD or documents separately and many of the files contained within are not available from another source.Over the years, we have had the opportunity to listen, to test, and to sell some of the nicest consumer and military communications receivers. However, we do not as often get our hands on the Yaesu FRG-100 receiver and are delighted every time that we do. In fact, each time we use the receiver we rediscover our love for it. Usually we sell the FRG*7 receiver as this was Yaesus best selling unit for general coverage shortwave listening during the analog years. Yaesu had introduced other digital receivers over the years prior to the FRG-100 (FRG*7000, FRG*7700, and FRG*8800) and while they were nice, they did not offer the listening advantages of the FRG-100.But while the identification number in the FRG series got larger going from 7 to eventually 8800, the resulting performance did not improve remarkably. Then things changed in 1993 when Yaesu introduced its FRG-100 into a market already populated by the likes of the Ken*wood R*5000. D*rake R*8, and Japan R*adio NRD*535 receivers. So what did Yaesu bring into the market populated by these venerated units....well, it was value. For about $700...or mid price, you could have a decent receiver and not have to lay out $980 for the R*8, the $1159 for the R*5000 or the $1429 for the NRD*535.When you set the FRG-100 next to these receivers, you will see that it is not quite as feature endowed as some of its big brothers. But while it does not offer all the features, it is not devoid of them either. Also, with regards to sensitivity to grab those weak signals, it is outstanding. According to the Passport to World Band Radio 1994 edition, the FRG-100 has excellent-to-superb sensitivity in the shortwave spectrum. Passport also claims that equally important, the circuitry of the 100 is quiet --- you dont hear circuit hiss, and you dont hear digital hash, both of which can interfere with hearing a faint signal.Let us list some of the features of this FRG-100 so that you understand what you are evaluating and the value of this unit:· 50 Memories· Noise blanker· S-meter· Digital readout to 10 Hz that is backlit· Attenuation (3 position)· Scan with several functions including memory scan· 3 Tuning steps· AGC fast / slow· Digital Clock Timer· Modes of AM / USB / LSB / CW (and due to excellent stability, great for RTTY / FAX)· Coverage of 50 KHz to 30 MHz· Dimmer· Record jack· Remote jack· Squelch· Dial lock· Selectivity of 6 / 4.2 / 2.4 KHz· Mute line· Carry handle· Headphone jackUltimately, what it really comes down to is performance of this receiver. No receiver is perfect, but some are better at doing some things than others. Fred Osterman in his book Shortwave Receivers Past and Present calls this receiver extremely stable, highly accurate, and very sensitive...an excellent RTTY / FAX receiver. His brief evaluation gives it a 5 star rating. We would say that this is a great receiver for the beginning or intermediate shortwave listener. It will also serve an advanced listener who is on a budget, but they may choose to look to the previously mentioned heavily armed receivers selling for more money. If you want a receiver that is a gem to operate, offers great sensitivity, and has excellent tuning accuracy, then the FRG-100 should be a great option to consider. This FRG-100 works superbly demonstrating great sensitivity on all the bands. While testing the unit, we were able to easily tune into the English language programs from AIR (All India Radio), Radio Ankara (Turkey), and Radio Romania. All of these were picked up on our personal high end receivers and then compared to the reception on this FRG-100. Frankly, we were amazed at the quality of signal when compared to units costing 3 or 4 times as much money.Because this FRG-100 has a backlit display that can be dimmed, it can be used as a bedside receiver. Since you typically do not tune it using a keypad, but use a tuning knob, you do not have to worry about fussing with keypad buttons in the dark. If you need to move up and down the dial quickly, you can hit the fast button next to the tuning knob or use the up / down slewing buttons for similar flexibility. Such features give you great control over the receiver since you dont have to fumble to hit keypad buttons in the dark and can move quickly up and down using fast mode in 1 MHz increments to travel quickly across the various shortwave bands. If you are looking at this receiver and are new to shortwave, let us advise you it is a fascinating hobby. If you generally get your information from the traditional media sources, you are likely disappointed in the quality of what you hear for news. Shortwave listening actually allows you to hear and experience a whole new spectrum of information gathering. We regularly tune into news and information from around the world....in English. And while that information may be bent to that particular broadcaster or specific nation, at least is is not filtered through the traditional ABCNBCCBSFOXCNNCNBC. It is rewarding to tune into a number of countries, but it is also rewarding to tune into some domestic broadcasters for alternative news. In the morning, we tune into the Power Hour at 7490 KHz and in the afternoon, we tune into Alex Jones on 12160.For your further research, you may look at these sites to get information. Please note that the FRG-100 earns a 4.3 out of 5 when averaging 17 evaluations:https://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/476 (copy and paste link in your internet browser)We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please visit our feedback to review how others rate our selling practices. If you reside in the USA, you may use the Ebay calculator to determine your shipping cost. Please Note: In order to avoid unintentional keyword spamming when searching for specific receivers, we have added an asterisk with some of the models below to remain in compliance with Ebay listing policies. Thank you! This sale is for an FRG-100B receiver. Cosmetically, the unit is used and you will see some marks on the cover from previous ownership. Please look at our pictures for specifics on the cosmetics as we have provided HD pictures to enable you to magnify for close-up observation. Electronically, everything works as designed by the engineers at Yaesu and the receiver has excellent sensitivity across the many bands. This Yaesu FRG-100 is the desired B version that updated the original FRG-100 with an improved filter arrangement. The original wide AM filter was a bit too wide and the improvement in this filter was a little better in tightening the receiving bandwidth. Optionally, you can listen in AM mode using the narrower SSB filter. To do this, you can choose the narrower SSB filter and tune slightly off frequency. The slight off tuning using the narrow filter improves audio and you will also realize improved selectivity during active bands when interference is a problem. Production of the FRG-100 ran from 1993 through 2005 and we removed the top cover to verify that the filters installed were the later filters supplied by Yaesu. This receiver was manufactured in 1995.This FRG-100B comes with large amount of items that should appeal to the shortwave hobby enthusiast:original box with insertsunopened bag containing DC cord and a variety of connectors for the receiver (see pictures)copy of the user manual Technical manual copy (service manual 79 pages)AC adapter FRG-100 reference guide copyFRG-100 SWL Tips - by Dr PhilPhils Radio Tuning Tricks - Phil has contributed greatly to the hobby with his releases such as thisYaesu Radio Company brochure copy (4 pages)Universal Radio catalog page - 1995WRTH advertisement - 1994 (World Radio & Television Handbook)WRTH advertisement - 1998Passport advertisement - 1995 (Passport To World Band Radio)Passport FRG-100 Whitepaper review - Edition 2.0Medium Wave Circle reviewElectronics Australia review - July 1993WRTH review - 1993Passport review - 1995Passport review - 1996 (FRG-100B)Passport review - 1999 (FRG-100B)Additionally, we will be enclosing a CD containing many of these documents plus more items for your enjoyment. This sale is for a rather uncommon FRA-7700 Active Antenna intended to mate with the FRG-7700 receiver, but can also be mated with the FRG-8800 or perhaps other non-Yaesu receivers. We have sold a variety of Yaesu receivers on Ebay, but irregularly offer the active antenna for sale here on Ebay. The Yaesu FRA-7700 Active Antenna covers the range of 150 kHz to 30 MHz in six bands and features a variable gain control. You may use the 3.5 foot telescopic antenna or connect an external antenna via the input terminals on the rear panel and it comes with hardwired jumper cables on the back panel to facilitate easy connection to the FRG-7700 or FRG-8800 receiver. This active antenna was tested and it is working beautifully and has minor cosmetic marks which do not stand out. The FRA-7700 comes with a copy of the operational manual which includes connection information. There are three advantages of using this FRA-7700 unit. The first is that it has a built-in antenna which may be helpful if it is difficult for you to install a different antenna at your location. Some locations do not enable easy erection of a proper outdoor antenna. The second advantage is that the built in pre-amp gain control will boost signals to your receiver, and in doing so, typically improve your ability to hear and enjoy what is being transmitted. That said, if you are able to connect a wire antenna outside your home, you should experience even greater signal strength and lower noise than relying entirely on the 3.5 foot telescopic antenna. It should be mentioned that when you amplify the receiving signal, you can also amplify any household noise (from TVs, computers, lighting, microwave ovens, dimmer switches, etc). The third advantage is helpful for those living in large signal areas. The FRA-7700 can act as a preselector. If you are having trouble with a nearby transmitter, this unit may help your receiver to squelch the power of some of those signals. Since it utilizes a tuned circuit, when you tune to one of the 6 bands, then the other bands are un-tuned. Thus, if you are getting interference from a nearby AM transmitter, then by selecting a band and tuning, you are going to attenuate the signal from the AM transmitter. We live in a rural area so this is not an issue for us and for our testing and operation, but if you live in an area with many powerful signals, then this unit may be a nice way to improve your signal capturing. Please use the Ebay shipping calculator to determine your shipping cost. This cost includes proper packing materials for safe delivery and insurance cost against damage or loss. Those buyers living outside the USA are also welcome to purchase from us. We have shipped to 111 countries during the past 24 years on Ebay and we are happy to ship virtually anywhere in the world. You may use the shipping calculator to determine your shipping cost. Please keep in mind that this cost may not include any import, customs, or VAT fees. Please Note: In order to avoid unintentional keyword spamming when searching for specific receivers, we have added an asterisk with some of the models below to remain in compliance with Ebay listing policies. Thank you! This sale is for an FRG-100 receiver. Cosmetically, while the receiver is used, it is in fantastic condition and should appeal to someone wanting a beautiful unit. Please look at our pictures for specifics on the cosmetics as we have provided HD pictures to enable you to magnify for close-up observation. Electronically, everything works as designed by the engineers at Yaesu and the receiver has excellent sensitivity across the many bands. This Yaesu FRG-100 has been modified by the previous owner to improve the AM filter to be wider for better audio (even wider than the B version of this receiver). In addition, two audio mods were performed to reduce/eliminate the woofiness often complained about by owners. We are also including the original filter in the event that the owner should wish to restore the receiver to the factory bandwidths, though if you listen and hear the nice audio, that is unlikely. The selling price of this receiver recognizes the wonderful cosmetic and operational condition of this receiver. Yes, you can find other FRG-100s sold for a bit lower cost, but you will not likely locate one for sale in this nice cosmetic condition with the improved audio from the upgraded filter and modifications. This FRG-100B comes in its original box and with large amount of items that should appeal to the shortwave hobby enthusiast: copy of the user manual Technical manual copy (service manual 79 pages) original AC adapter FRG-100 reference guide copy FRG-100 SWL Tips - by Dr Phil Phils Radio Tuning Tricks - Phil has contributed greatly to the hobby with his releases such as this Yaesu Radio Company brochure copy (4 pages) Universal Radio catalog page - 1995 WRTH advertisement - 1994 (World Radio & Television Handbook) WRTH advertisement - 1998 Passport advertisement - 1995 (Passport To World Band Radio) Passport FRG-100 Whitepaper review - Edition 2.0 Medium Wave Circle review Electronics Australia review - July 1993 WRTH review - 1993 Passport review - 1995 Passport review - 1996 (FRG-100B) Passport review - 1999 (FRG-100B) Additionally, we will be enclosing a CD containing many of these documents plus more items for your enjoyment. This is about 570 MB of documents and represents an amazing amount of documentation for this receiver. We do not sell this CD or documents separately and many of the files contained within are not available from another source. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to listen, to test, and to sell some of the nicest consumer and military communications receivers. Yaesu had introduced other digital receivers over the years prior to the FRG-100 (FRG*7000, FRG*7700, and FRG*8800) and while they were nice, they did not offer the listening advantages of the FRG-100. But while the identification number in the FRG series got larger going from 7 to eventually 8800, the resulting performance did not improve remarkably. For about $700...or mid price, you could have a decent receiver and not have to lay out $980 for the R*8, the $1159 for the R*5000 or the $1429 for the NRD*535. When you set the FRG-100 next to these receivers, you will see that it is not quite as feature laden as some of its big brothers. Passport also claims that equally important, the circuitry of the 100 is quiet --- you dont hear circuit hiss, and you dont hear digital hash, both of which can interfere with hearing a faint signal. Let us list some of the features of this FRG-100 so that you understand what you are evaluating and the value of this unit: · 50 Memories · Noise blanker · S-meter · Digital readout to 10 Hz that is back lit · Attenuation (3 position) · Scan with several functions including memory scan · 3 Tuning steps · AGC fast / slow · Digital Clock Timer · Modes of AM / USB / LSB / CW (and due to excellent stability, great for RTTY / FAX) · Coverage of 50 KHz to 30 MHz · Dimmer · Record jack · Remote jack · Squelch · Dial lock · Selectivity of 6 / 4.2 / 2.4 KHz · Mute line · Carry handle · Headphone jack Ultimately, what it really comes down to is performance of this receiver. If you want a receiver that is a gem to operate, offers great sensitivity, and has excellent tuning accuracy, then the FRG-100B should be a great option to consider. This FRG-100B works superbly demonstrating great sensitivity on all the bands. While testing the unit, we were able to easily tune into the English language programs from AIR (All India Radio), Radio Ankara (Turkey), and Radio Romania. All of these were picked up on our personal high end receivers and then compared to the reception on this FRG-100B. Frankly, we were amazed at the quality of signal when compared to units costing 3 or 4 times as much money. Because this FRG-100B has a back lit display that can be dimmed, it can be used as a bedside receiver. In the morning, we tune into the Power Hour at 7490 KHz and in the afternoon, we tune into Alex Jones on 12160. For your further research, you may look at these sites to get information. This sale is for a less common Yaesu FRT-7700 antenna tuner that was an option sold by Yaesu to work directly with the 7700 receiver, but the tuner may also with many other shortwave receivers. According to the information from Yaesu, the FRT-7700: is an ultra-compact antenna tuner for the FRG-7700 receiver. Designed for operation from 150 KHz to 30 MHz, the FRT-7700 will provide the proper impedance for the receiver, thus rejecting unwanted signals. A built-in attenuator, 60 dB maximum, prevents intermodulation and cross-modulation from occurring when strong signals are being carried to your receiver. Also, a two-section lowpass filter aids in the rejection of interference from strong signals above 2 MHz when you are listening to bands in the 150 KHz to 500 KHz range. The tuner covers the 150 KHz to 30 MHz in six bands. It features a variable gain control. The rear panel has two antenna inputs to accommodate either a wire antenna or coaxial cable. There is a hardwired output cable for the receiver. The tuner is in nice condition overall. It works beautifully and should be a nice unit to enhance your reception. As you can see from the picture, the tuner comes with a copy of the user manual. Please use the Ebay shipping calculator to determine your shipping cost.
