EAR Yoshino EAR834 - Integrated Valve Amp - Genalex Gold Lion KT66 - Excellent. Excellent condition throughout. Only selling due to some unexpected bills popping up which can’t be avoided, heartbreaking sale if I’m honest. 6 inputs and 1 tape out 8ohm & 15ohm speaker outputs Recently been treated to a brand new matched set of 8 Genalex Gold Lion KT66 output valves at a cost of £650. It was serviced a couple of years back by HiFi Sound in Middlesbrough and has been used sparingly since. I can’t see anything that needs replacing. I’ve recently had one of the front knobs replaced for a brand new one (at a cost of £75) as the one was a bit more discoloured than the other, the second one has lost a bit of gold but nothing major. The one that was replaced is also included (so 3 in total) As the KT66 are such big valves, the iconic cages don’t fit over the top of the valves. They are obviously included though, and can be seen in other photos when I had EL34 valves installed. It’s a nightmare to photograph with all the polished surfaces, none of which I can see are scratched at all. I’ll add pictures accordingly when I can get a decent one without seeing my ugly mush in the reflection! Any questions please ask. Original packaging is present but would still prefer collection. EAR Yoshino EAR834 Integrated Valve Amp In working order but presumably needs recapping as there is noticeable mains hum when no music is playing.This has been slowly becoming more apparent in the 7 years Ive owned the amplifier. The volume control crackles occasionally as well when being adjusted but is fine most of the time. The front panel is a replacement I bought from EAR Yoshino as the original was discoloured and pitted.The mains transformer cover was also pitted so I resprayed it to match the centre panel. A chromed replacement to match the power transformer covers is available from EAR Yoshino.Areas of the black paint on the chassis are bubbling and in need of being refinished.The EL34 covers came to me loose and rest in place on their locating studs and some bolt tops; as manufactured they apparently had to be unbolted from below the circuit boards to change valves. The photos clearly show one of the power amplifier boards suffered from a partial track burn out at some point and was repaired with wire covered in a clear sealant. I didnt discover this until taking the base off the amplifier to investigate the crackly volume control about 3 years ago. Some components appear to have been replaced. The ECC85s are Tungsram and the ECC83s are an unmatched pair, they were in place when I bought the amplifier and have not been replaced by me. The EL34s are a mixture of types which have all had about 5 years of regular use. Tim De Paravacini allegedly designed his amplifiers to be very tolerant of unmatched valves; whether this is true or not the amplifier sounds marvelous driving my Quad ESL57s. I had fully intended to have the EAR834 professionally serviced at some point but having just acquired a Luxman SQ-38u here on ebay it is now up for sale. In view of the amplifiers overall condition I am selling it as for parts or not working and starting the auction at 99p. Collection is welcome, in which case you can hear it working. As I still have the very substantial box it arrived in shipping will not be a problem. I will pack the valves in their individual boxes and wrap the valve covers separately inside the main box. The whole package will weigh about 25 kilos and be shipped by ParcelForce24, tracked and signed for, with full insurance.If there is any change out of the quoted £30 p&p cost I will refund the difference to the buyer.
