The Project Xtension 9 SuperPack is a superb turntable that highlights all of Projects 20 years of expertise in one compact model. With a chassis constructed out of MDF, giving this turntable a high mass and remaining non-resonant. Magnetic feet are also featured in order to decouple the main plinth from its base, resulting in a merging of mass loaded and floating turntable design principles.Casting aside the old-standard adoption of pure metal for a main platter, the Project Xtension 9 SuperPack uses an alloy material that Project specially researched and uncovered. This alloy material has been damped in the inner side using thermos plastic elastomers (TPE). Project have then taken recycled vinyl records and glued them on to the top of this base structure, acting as a perfect mat. They have then baked this vinyl sandwich before precision balancing it, allowing the turntable to benefit from a resonance-free, heavy platter that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball-bearing, with magnetic suspension. The Project Xtension 9 SuperPack comes with a pre-fitted Project 9cc Evolution Tonearm that has been constructed from carbon-fibre. This armtube is designed to lead parasitic vibrations away from the cartridge and into the mounting board, guaranteeing the precise tracking of the record grooves by the needle and facilitating fine adjustments of vertical and horizontal tracing. The Project Xtension 9 SuperPack also comes pre-fitted with an Ortofon Quintet Black, usually worth £649 on its own. Home to a Nude Shibata diamond, the Quintet Black is considered one of the best stylus profiles available today and is mounted on a high-performance Boron cantilever. The Shibatas slim and highly polished profile allows for an exceptionally wide contact area to the walls of the groove and works to ensure detailed and pure reproduction throughout the spectrum, including the highest frequency groove details. The Project Xtension 9 SuperPack boasts all of these features, but remains stylish and elegant at the same time. Weighing in at 6.45kg, this is a nice circa 1970s kit made ? Quad (not made by them) clone / inspired ? power amplifier.Bought years ago as supposedly working, but realised upon opening up to check inside before powering on, that one small capacitor had leaked, the two smaller blue cans look to be browned and appear to have the start of leaking, and added to the fact this power amp appears to take 3 pin din plugs ? I ended up never powering it up as aside from my initial inspection concerns, i also suspected the power amp had in fact most likely not been used in in decades.Hopefully someone with knowledge of electronics will be able to fix this up or use as a basis for a project.The rear panel looks to be dented slightly, and after removal of the power amp top can be a bit tricky to realign the front and rear panels back with the holes.Comes with a bulgin plug lead (genuinely untested).Condition as per the photos, some grubbiness to the front panel.
