This is a very rare, attractive and iconic record player. Please read the entire listing before you bid. Dimensions: 36 cms L x 28 cms W x 12 cms Silvertone Revelation Portable record player, Classic ’60’s teenage must-have bedroom item.Sivertone were a luggage/case manufacturer with a very good reputation. They made the cases for these and got a sub-contracted workshop/electronics line to install the internals. They usually used a 2 stage amp and this sounded good – made around 1962/63. The legacy of this casemaking company means that the padded finish is much better than most portables at the time that were covered in rexine (which was, after all, merely a book-binding cover material). This one is cosmetically excellent. A particularly pleasing feature is the lovely handle, which is strong and sturdy and has the brand name engraved in it (see image please).The player has a volume and tone control, the brights of which are unusually shiny. These are the original knobs.Being picky, there is the usual crazing to the chrome lid clips but they function perfectly. There is VERY slight lifting of the material along one or two edges but this is hardly noticeable.The item is sold as Not Working. The mains lead would have emerged from the machine via the hole in the top right corner (see dedicated image). The cartridge is present but there is no stylus tip.The player may well work once a mains lead is connected by someone who knows what they are doing and a stylus sourced - equally it may not. So I am selling this lovely machine as a restoration project. The good news is that there is no cosmetic work needing to be done!
