For sale is a lightly used Denafrips Pontus II. This DAC has been my daily driver for 2+ years. It sounds beautiful, warm, organic, and completely non-fatiguing. It is a true delight to hear. Selling because, unfortunately, I need the money. Purchased/shipped in January 2021. (This is important to know since there have been a couple different manufacturing runs.) The latest USB MCU firmware update from November 2021 is installed. (Stock version had some flakiness with the USB input, but this was completely fixed, it has been 100% rock solid since the Nov 21 update.) As you may know, the sound signature of these units is largely implemented in the FPGA firmware, so different firmwares sound quite noticeably different. The current firmware installed on this particular unit is the 1.0 version, however there have recently been some updates to that- a 1.4 FPGA firmware was released in May 2023. I compared the two versions and found I preferred the 1.0 firmware, but that is just a personal preference and certainly 1.4 does sound better in some very objective ways. They both sound excellent. Do your own research and see what people are saying on the forums. Heres the fun part: YOU, the buyer, pick if you would like 1.0 firmware or 1.4 firmware installed on the unit before I ship it out. (Its somewhat annoying to install the firmware update software on your computer, so you can get the benefit of me having done it already.) If you decide you want to experiment with the firmware later on your own, you can tell Vinshine its a EP4CE22F Pontus. (Thats the FPGA type.) Unit has seen hundreds of hours of use, plus I burned it in with pink noise for a long, long time. It is completely reliable, incredibly musical, and built like a tank. Physically in excellent condition. Used in a non-smoking home. Will ship in the ORIGINAL packaging, with the stock power cable. Any questions, please ask.
