VINTAGE SONY MEGA WATCHMAN TV AM/FM RADIO. The TV comes on to loud static, but all I did was plug It into the outlet. Both am and fm radio work. The white has faded to yellow on the case. It comes with parts shown plus a cable. There was a blue rubber band around the cord that disintegrated and left a couple of sticky spots. I will try to clean it before shipping. With its black and white screen and compact size, its a great addition to any collection or for use while traveling. Its brand name is well known and its model, FD-510, is a classic. Made in Taiwan and unmodified, this item is ready for use.

1984 Sony Watchman FD-40A MIni Portable Black and White Television VHF/UHF With Power Supply. The TV is in great working condition. There are no cracks or markings on the unit. All dials and switches work fine. The antenna telescopes and swivels with no issue. Unfortunately I cannot show a real picture on the TV (other than the power on screen) due to the decommissioning of the NTSC standard. All original packing material and instructions are included along with a working Sony original 6V power supply. A hand strap is also included. The original case which is included is in bad condition. It visibly looks fine but at some point, the outer case material started breaking down. It sweats some weird sticky brown material similar to molasses. I’ve tried to clean it but that didn’t help the stickiness. I didn’t want to damage it further. The box has some corner wear but is in excellent condition considering it’s age. Also it hasn’t been played much over time.

If you are looking at this then you probably already know what you are looking at. This and the smaller Sony black & white TV were used as production monitors by an Internationally known Steadicam Operator in the early days of Steadicam and before moving on to the GV-8 and other color receiving and recording options. It was used for such productions as the first Home Run Derby and All Stars Game at Camden Field The first MTV Awards and many other first. As stated clearly in the listing the unit was put away in fully working condition years ago but I cannot find a 6 volt DC power supply for it so despite having VHF transmission and test equipment I really have no way of testing it. As such it is priced right between the known junk and the known operational: units but with ALL UNITS of this age many of the capacitors will need replacement if the unit is to be fully usable. Somewhere I think i saw the case for the unit but I do know know where so that is just NOT included. Thank you
